Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions that may better explain what and how "the King of Ding" works to save you money!

What is a ding or dent?

A ding or dent is a small imperfection or damage on the appliance that maybe as minor as a scratch,  or maybe dented into the appliance, say the size of a quarter or half dollar. All ding and dented appliances are NEW and never before used but are considered seconds or B stock because of the minor imperfections. (See the picture to the left, the orange dot mark where the damage area is.)

How did the ding or dent get there?

The imperfections on the appliances usally happen during freight transfer from the manufacture to the retail stores they were headed for.  Freight damage is very common and can be as minor as a hand truck or dolly bumping the appliance or a scratch on a door handle. Many times the unit is unboxed at a customer's home and the imperfection or damage was discovered at that time and the customer refused the appliance. Why? You might too if you paid full price at some big box store!

Where does "the king of ding" get the appliances?

The king buys all NEW ding & dented appliances direct from the manufacutures or their ding and dent authorized dealers. That is how we are able to offer the full factory functional warranty on all NEW ding and dented appliances.

Is there a warranty and what is a functional warranty?

Yes! All NEW ding and dented appliances come with the manufactures full factory functional warranty direct from the manufacture just as if you purchased the appliance from a big box store.  The functional warranty is just that, it covers all functional operational parts on the appliance. It does NOT cover any cosmetic imperfections or damages, that's why you save so much money! Most manufactures offer a one year parts and labor warranty on all appliances.

Do you offer delivery or shipping of the appliances?

Do you install and haul away the old appliances?

We do not install any built in appliances like dishwashers, cook tops, ovens, ect. But we work with other companies that can we can refer. We can remove and haul away your old appliances for free!

What is your return policy?

Delivery or pick up is not included but can be arranged for an additional fee.

Do these appliance still qualify for rebates?

Some manufacturer's offer rebates as incentive to purchase certain models and the king may have them in stock now. Many energy star refrigerators and washers qualify for big rebates from many utility companies, check with yours today!

Does the King of Ding sell or buy used appliances as well?

Yes and No. Is that clear? No, we do not buy any used appliances from the public at large. No, normally we do not sell used appliances. However, we do occasionally get special buys on some used high end used appliances, like Thermador, Viking, Kitchen Aid, Wolf, and others. Some times the units may not actually be used but are beyond their original manufacturer's warranty. In any case we will give a 3 or 6 month warranty from us parts and labor. 99% of our inventory is brand NEW with minor imperfections and a full factory functional warranty.

Do you offer lay away or financing?

Sorry, but we do not offer financing or lay away on any items, and due to past issues we cannot hold an item for you with or without a deposit. If you find something and want to buy it it is due in full or it maybe be sold to the next customer.

Do you charge sales tax and do you give a cash discount?

Sorry cash, check, or charge it's all the same price. And YES we charge sales tax to everyone! The sales tax rate is determined by where the item is received. So if you buy it in store and take it home with you, you pay orange county sales tax, but if we deliver it to you in los angeles county you pay los angeles sales tax. Hey those are the rules we don't make the laws. Just because our prices are discounted doesn't mean we can discount the tax. The tax man still gets his or else he'll get the "king."

What if my appliance isn't working 6 weeks or 6 months after I purchased it from the king of ding?

Well, as stated before all of our NEW scratch and dent appliances come with the manufacturer's functional warranty of one year parts and labor.  You should contact them by email or phone and they will help you schedule a service call by one of their authorized servicer. You can also check the manufacturer's web site for helpful hints before deciding if you really need service.

Explain to me your selection and variety of inventory?

Our inventory is constantly changing. When we receive a shipment, we may receive one or several of any one model and what is here today maybe me gone tomorrow. We have a diverse variety of inventory, everything from washers, dryers, stoves, ovens, cook tops, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, microwaves and more! Now that doesn't mean we have a thousand of each item in at all times. Sometimes we have more stoves than washers and sometimes more refrigerators than stoves.  All of our items are unique and one of a kind, meaning each piece has a dent or imperfection in it's own unique spot or area.

How do you know the appliances work?

Each and every ding and dent appliance is tested to function at our warehouse facility. We test to see that the appliances function overall and are in operational condition.

Since the king of ding is an discount outlet store do you always have the cheapest price?

Well, we are a discount outlet store and being such we do have great prices on many appliances. However, in any appliance store you have a cost effective model and you have a model with all the bells and whistles. Now when we receive a shipment in we receive a variety of models from the cheapest to the most expensive models.  Of course the cost effective models go fastest and we don't always get a lot. So to be fair you need to compare apples to apples and to do that check model number to model number. So we may not always have the cost effective basic model, but we can see great savings model number to model number. And don't forget you get what you pay for and that cheapest model may not be the best buy overall.
